Temporary or permanent connection of a part of the digestive tract (esophagus, intestine, colon, etc.) or a component of the urinary system to the abdominal wall through a small opening. Created during a surgical procedure, this opening is intended to divert stool or urine when they can no longer be eliminated through natural pathways. The waste is then collected in a special pouch, attached directly to the skin.
